Ogun State Civil Service Commission Recruitment (ASCON 2018) – I here by wish to inform the general public that the ASCON 2018 Public Service Entry Examination which is the examination for entry into the Accountant, Administrative Officer, Engineer (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Structural), Agricultural Officer, Education Officer, Town Planning Officer,Agricultural Research Officer, Medical Officer, Pharmacist, State Counsel, Nurse Tutor and many other cadres on relevant entry Grade Levels in accordance with the provisions of Schemes of Service in the Ogun State Civil Service is set to commence on 29th November 2017. 2. The competitive examination will consist of:

(a) a qualifying written examination to be conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON);

(b) series of Tests and Interviews known as Extended Interviews, to be conducted by the Civil Service Selection Board; and

(c) a Final Oral Interview before the Civil Service Commission.

3. Subjects for the Examination

The written examination is designed to test the candidates’ comprehension of English Language, ability to think clearly and knowledge of current affairs. The examination will consist of the following papers namely:

(i) English Language

(ii) Logical Thinking

(iii) General Knowledge Paper I

(iv) General Knowledge Paper II

(v) Basic Statistics

4. The range of questions will cater for graduates of Universities and will test intelligent awareness of current affairs which an educated person may reasonably be presumed to possess. The prescribed examination form can be obtained from the Ogun State Civil Service Commission on payment of a non-refundable examination fee of Ten thousand naira (#10,000.00) per candidate. The Examination syllabus, past questions, ID card and other instructions to candidates will be given by the Ogun State Civil Service Commission as part of the package.

5. Venue of the Examination:

The written examination will be held on 25th and 26th January, 2018 at a Centre to be announced later. Only those candidates who attain the qualifying standard in the ASCON written examination will be invited for series of Interviews to be conducted by the Civil Service Selection Board and the Commission. Arising from the performance of candidates at the Extended Interviews, the Ogun State Civil Service Commission Recruitment will select those who will participate in the Final Oral Interviews.

6. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

All candidates seeking appointment into the posts listed below must have a University degree in any of the disciplines indicated against each post. Candidate(s) with Higher National Diploma (HND) need not apply except he/she possesses a Post-Graduate Diploma and a Master’s Degree or Professional Certificate in relevant field.

6.1 Eligibility requirements are as follows:

(A) Administrative Officer Grd. II GL.08, Salary (N593,030.04p.a)

Candidate must possess a University Degree in any of the disciplines of Social Sciences or Humanities.

(B) Accountant Cadre

(Bi) Senior Accountant GL. 10, Salary (N911,355.84 p.a)

Candidates must possess any of the following:

The final certificate of any of the following professional Accountancy bodies

(i) Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)

(ii) Association of Certified and Corporate Accountants (ACCA)

(Bii) Accountant Grd. I, GL.09, Salary (N696,913.68 p.a)

Candidates must possess:

(i) A degree in Accounting or Higher National Diploma in Accountancy plus Professional Diploma of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).

Candidates must possess a degree in Accounting from a recognised University.

(C) Inspector of Taxes Cadre

(ii) Final Certificate Association of Certified and Corporate Accountants (ACCA)

Candidates must possess:

(i) A degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or Higher National Diploma in Accountancy plus Professional Diploma of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).

(Ciii) Inspector of Taxes Grd.II, GL.08, Salary (N 593,030.04 p.a)

Candidates must possess a degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics.

(D) Agricultural Officer Grd. II, GL.08, Salary (N593,030.04 p.a)

Candidates must possess a degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, Horticulture, Crop Science or Crop Production from a recognised University.

(E) Agricultural Research Officer Grd. II, GL.08, Salary (N593,030.04 p.a)
Candidates must possess a degree in any of the Agricultural or Natural Sciences from a recognised University.

(F) Produce Officer Grd. II GL.08, Salary (N 593,030.04 p.a)
Candidates must possess a degree in Agriculture or Biological Science from a recognised University

(G) Forest Officer Grd. II GL.08, Salary (N 593,030.04 p.a)

Candidates must possess a degree in Forestry, Forest Resources Management, Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Zoology, Forest Botany/Biology, Forest Engineering, Forest Utilization and Timer Technology or Wood Science from a recognised University.

(H) Education Officer Grd. II, GL.08, Salary (N 593,030.04 p.a)
Candidates must possess any of the following qualifications:

(i) B.Sc.(Ed.)/B.A(Ed.)/B.Ed. and B.Sc/B.A plus PGDE in the following subjects

• Biology

• Chemistry

• Physics

Candidates must possess a degree in any of the following qualifications:

(i) a degree in Library Studies

(ii) a degree from a recognised University plus a postgraduate diploma in Library Studies.

(J) Town Planning Cadre

(Ji) Senior Town Planning, GL.10 Salary (N911,355.84 p.a)

Candidates must possess a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a recognised Institution with Five (5) years post qualification cognate experience or a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning with Four (4) years post qualification cognate experience.

Candidates must possess a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a recognised Institution with Two (2) years post qualification cognate experience or a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning with One (1) years post qualification cognate experience.
Town Planning OfficerGrd. I, GL.08

(i) HND plus a pass in the final examination of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (i.e HND plus 900 Level NITP result plus True Certified Letter from the NITP Registrar).

(K) Geologist Grd. I, GL.09, Salary (N 696,913.68 p.a)

(i) Candidates must possess a degree in Geology, Mining or Exploratory Geology

(ii)a degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Geo-chemistry or Geology with specialization in Geo-chemistry from a recognised University.

(L) Quantity Surveyor Grd. II GL.08, Salary (N 593,030.04 p.a)
Candidate must possess any of the following qualifications or their equivalent registerable with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS):

(i) a degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognised University

(ii) a pass in the final examination of the Royal Institute of Quantity Surveyors

(iii) a pass in the final examination of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyor.

(M) Surveyors’ Cadre

Candidates must possess a degree in Land Surveying, Survey Engineering, Geodetic Science or Geodetic Engineering from a recognised University or any other equivalent qualifications registerable with the Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria (SURCON) plus a pass in the Final Examination of the Surveyors’ Licensing Board or Cooperate Membership of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor or at least Two (2) years post qualification cognate experience

Candidates must possess a degree in Land Surveying, Survey Engineering, Geodetic Science or Geodetic Engineering from a recognised University or any other equivalent qualifications registerable with the Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria (SURCON)

(i) a degree in Statistics as a special subject from a recognised University

(ii) a degree from a recognised University in Social Sciences or Mathematics without Statistics plus a Post Graduate

Candidates must possess a degree in Computer Science from a recognised University.

7. Mode of Application:

Candidates are enjoined to obtain Guaranty Trust Bank teller from Room A263at the Ogun State Civil Service Commission Block A, 1st Floor, New Secretariat Complex, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta for payment of non-refundable Examination fee of N10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira) only into Account No.0032630816 at the Guaranty Trust Bank, Oke-Mosan , Abeokuta. After payment, candidates are advised to obtain application form along with examination syllabus and Ogun State Civil Service Commission’s compiled past questions from Room A235, Block A, 1st Floor, New Secretariat Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
